Notice something in common in these photos?

It’s not what you think

I gave it away in the third pic

That’s right! None of these cops are wearing badges or name tags! I wonder why… seems like it’d be important to wear those, since it’s even illegal not to in other states…

This is actually illegal in all states. A police officer must be marked as such with name and badge at all times unless their jurisdiction states otherwise (such as an undercover officer), and even when not wearing a badge, the officer must have the badge accessible at all times and must show the badge in order to make an arrest. Name tags are not required as long as a badge is available because the badge has the officer number on it.

This has really been bothering me. The police in Ferguson are breaking the law by concealing their identities. Everyone knows this, it’s been going on for ten days, and it appears that nobody is doing anything about it.

The police are clearly and systematically violating the first amendment rights of the press, and they are getting away with it. This has been happening for days, and nobody appears to be doing anything about it.

A police officer pointed a rifle at a journalist and told him to fuck off *while he was being filmed, so he’s easily identifiable by his superiors*, and that police officer still has a job.

I know that not all cops are bad (or even most cops), but there are clearly bad cops in Ferguson, and they’re acting with complete impunity. I don’t understand why those cops aren’t being taken off the scene, and why a higher (possibly federal) authority isn’t coming in to address these things.

A-men ^^ 🙏

Back in the early 2000’s, in anticipation of (and eventually a major catalyst of) riots happening in my college town, local police imported officers from major metropolis areas.  They decided that wasn’t enough manpower, and they decided to temporarily deputize private security officers.

How did I know?

They couldn’t stop bragging about it.

Because rent-a-cops finally got chances to be real cops.

One of those fuckers was laughing about how he caused a kid to go into a foaming tremor because he loaded his baton with buckshot.

I would not be shocked in the slightest to learn the same thing was happening there.

Martial law is serious shit, people.  Start taking this seriously.

Going on right now in Ferguson: Police are raiding a church that has been stocked with medical supplies, food, and tear gas recovery kits for community members engaging in protests. This cannot be allowed to continue.

Stand up, speak out.

This is real life. (x)

There is a little thing called Sanctuary that is supposed to be the mark of a civilized society.  You are to show no belligerence toward peaceful religious establishments or the wounded.

That’s a double pig whammy there.

Two ways of dealing with tear gas grenades from comrades in Turkey: Either submerge them in water. Make sure you can close off the container cause the gas will still spread for a while. Or throw them in the fire so the gas burns off before it can spread.

Please pass this along.

Anyone in the current crises can use it now, but with rapidly increasing militarization of local police (something our current president campaigned on, look it up) we all very well could need this information sooner than later.

Don’t wash that crap off with water, either.  Milk or cola.

I was in a nasty riot a little over a decade ago that got some national coverage.  Tear gas, rubber bullets, bean bags, and DEPUTIZED PRIVATE SECURITY are all not fun, but cops will do anything the moment they get threatened.

And these are the people that want to take your guns away, because they claim they can do everything you need for protection.
